Function of the Job
The Curriculum & Transfer Coordinator/Academic Advisor serves in a blended role supporting student advising and instructional curriculum coordination. This position provides targeted academic advising to a defined student population while serving as a central coordinator for transfer articulation, curriculum documentation, and catalog maintenance. The role is designed to flex across the academic year, with the balance of responsibilities shifting based on advising cycles, curriculum timelines, and institutional needs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide academic advising to a select and limited group of assigned students, including academic planning, course sequencing, degree completion, and transfer preparation.
- Consult with students regarding academic policies, procedures, program requirements, and academic concerns, and connect them with appropriate support services.
- Support advising consistency and quality by assisting with the onboarding and training of new academic advisors and serving as a resource for complex advising questions.
- Serve as the primary institutional contact for the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI).
- Coordinate course articulation between two-year and four-year institutions in Illinois.
- Maintain and update course equivalency tables, transfer documentation, and student-facing transfer resources.
- Coordinate curriculum documentation and tracking in collaboration with Academic Affairs and academic departments.
- Work closely with faculty to support the development, review, and maintenance of syllabi, course outlines, and curriculum-related materials.
- Maintain official curriculum documentation required for external reporting and accreditation, including materials submitted to ICCB, IAI, HLC, and Illinois universities for articulation purposes, including course outlines and ICCB program forms.
- Maintain and update all internal curricular records and publications, including the college catalog, Curriculum Committee manual, and ELA master lists.
- Track curriculum changes and ensure updates are accurately reflected in advising tools, catalogs, and student-facing materials.
- Collaborate with Academic Affairs leadership, faculty, Registrar, and Student Services staff to ensure alignment between curriculum, advising, and transfer information.
- Participate in institutional committees related to curriculum, advising, transfer, and student success, as requested.
- Create Curriculum Committee agendas and ensure agendas and approved minutes are posted to the internal information sharing database.
- Assume all other reasonable professional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

- Provide presentations or training to faculty, staff, and students as needed.
- Work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
Personal Interaction
Frequent contact with students, faculty, administrators, staff, and external partners in providing advising, curriculum, and transfer-related information and support.

No supervision required.
Requirements
Bachelor鈥檚 degree with three years of experience in and educational setting, or equivalent education and experience required.
Strong written and oral communication skills required.
Must demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the community college philosophy.
Preferred:
- Master鈥檚 degree strongly preferred.
- Community college experience.
- Knowledge of Banner and student retention software.
- Experience with transfer articulation, curriculum coordination, catalog maintenance, or advisor training.
- Experience with student retention strategies and tools.
