Position Overview
This position is accountable for providing engineering assistance to the Resident
Engineer in the inspection, layout and documentation of highway construction improvement
projects. This position is included in the rotational program for Engineers and Engineering
Technicians.
Essential Functions
Keeps accurate and legible record of inspection, field measurements and documentation
of contract.
Keeps the Resident Engineer informed on status and/or problems of contractor's work.
Provides accurate measurements on surveys for construction layout.
Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties
in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering
or a job related technical/science curriculum OR two years of engineering experience.
Conditions of Employment
Valid driver鈥檚 license.
Travel is required.
Successful completion of a background screening.
Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45
apply to this position. As a result, the employee should be aware that if offered
non-State employment during State employment or within one year immediately after
ending State employment, the employee shall, prior to accepting any such non-State
employment offer, notify the Office of the Executive Inspector General for the Agencies
of the Illinois Governor (鈥淥EIG鈥) or may be subject to a fine.
