The ̽ѡ choice for the Outstanding Part-Time Faculty award is Mr. Brant Clements. Academic background: Mr. Clements received a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Augustana College and a Master of Divinity from Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. Professional background: Prior to joining ̽ѡ as an Adjunct Faculty member, Mr. Clements served at a Chaplain for LSSI at the Nachusa Lutheran Home for 10 years. During his career as a Lutheran Pastor, Mr. Clements also served as the Pastor for Immanuel Lutheran Church in Amboy and Trinity Lutheran Church in Utica. He is currently the Ecumenical and Interfaith Concerns Representative for the Northern Illinois Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and continues to work as a part-time pastor for St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Nachusa. Comments from Nomination: Instructor Clements teaches PHL 104 World Religions, at ̽ѡ. This is a very important course in the general education humanities as it broadens students awareness of beliefs and thoughts different from their own. Mr. Clements does an excellent job making every student feel comfortable in discussing a wide range of spiritual approaches to life, and in doing so, contemplates stereotypes of religions around the world. College is about expanding ones horizons, and Mr. Clementss course, offered both online and in class, must be reaching students since it is typically one of our most popular humanities courses offered. Mr. Clements has been instrumental in supporting the Colleges effort to expand online class modality options. He developed an online section of PHL 104 to expand access for our students. Sauk is especially appreciative of this contribution as it is rare than an adjunct instructor would build an online course for the College. Though he is a part-time instructor, Mr. Clements has a strong presence on our campus and in our community. At the College, he attends adjunct faculty workshops to learn about how he can implement best practices into his classroom. He can often be seen in the hallways visiting with students and fellow faculty members. Through the World Religions course, Mr. Clements promotes diversity, acceptance, and inclusion on our campus. In the community, he is a part of Shoulder-to-Shoulder, an interfaith organization dedicated to ending anti-Muslim sentiment.
